New restrictions for placarded loads in the West Gate Tunnel

With the West Gate Tunnel due to open in late 2025, it's important for anyone transporting dangerous goods, particularly drivers, to be aware of the new restrictions. 

Vehicles carrying placarded loads of dangerous goods, including explosives, will not be permitted in the new West Gate Tunnels, or the West Gate Tunnels entrance ramps and designated carriageways.

These restrictions are consistent with existing restrictions regarding the transport of placarded loads of dangerous goods, including explosives, through the CityLink and EastLink Tunnels. Warning signs will be displayed on all approach roads, and exits will be available before each tunnel entrance.  

This restriction will remain in force until varied or revoked.
