Fees, Charges and Refunds Policy

STAR Education

Effective Date: 1 July 2025

STAR Education is committed to providing clear, fair and transparent information about all course fees, charges and refund conditions. This policy outlines your rights and obligations regarding payments and refunds in accordance with the Standards for RTOs 2025 and the Australian Consumer Law.

1. Course Fees and Charges

STAR Education protects all student fees paid in advance.

STAR Education will not require students to pay more than $1,500 in advance for training services not yet provided.

Full course fee information is provided prior to enrolment and is outlined in:

  • Course information on our website

  • The Student Agreement and Course Outline

Fee information includes:

  • Total course cost, including any materials or administration fees

  • Payment terms and schedule

  • Details of any additional fees that may apply (e.g. replacement certificates, reassessment fees)

2. Course Fee Inclusions and Additional Costs

Included in your course fees:

  • All training and assessment required to achieve your qualification or unit of competency

  • One set of learning materials or digital access to course content

  • One set of certification documents (testamur and record of results or statement of attainment)

Not included in your course fees:

  • Optional or replacement textbooks and stationery

  • Reassessment fees where additional attempts are required beyond the permitted number

  • Replacement or reissued certificates ($50 per document)

3. Payment Terms and Methods

Payment can be made via:

  • Card (Visa, MasterCard, EFTPOS)

  • Bank transfer

  • Other methods as advised

Payment schedules (including instalments, where applicable) are outlined in your Student Agreement.

If you experience financial difficulty, please contact STAR Education to discuss alternative payment arrangements.

Where fees are more than 40 days overdue, STAR Education may:

  • Suspend training and/or services until fees are paid; or

  • Refer the outstanding balance to a debt collection agency

4. Cooling-Off Period

In accordance with Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a cooling-off period depending on how you enrol.

If applicable, you may withdraw from your enrolment within the relevant cooling-off period by notifying STAR Education in writing.

Further details will be outlined in your Student Agreement where applicable.

5. Refunds and Withdrawals

How to request a refund

To request a refund, please email info@staredu.com.au with your:

  • Full name

  • Course name

  • Enrolment date

  • Reason for your request

Full Refunds

A full refund may be provided where:

  • You withdraw within the applicable cooling-off period (where applicable), or

  • STAR Education cancels or postpones a course prior to commencement

Partial or Pro-Rated Refunds

A partial refund may be provided where:

  • STAR Education is unable to deliver part of the course

Refunds will be calculated based on the portion of training not yet delivered.

Withdrawals After Course Commencement

Refund requests after training has commenced will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account:

  • The training and assessment already provided

  • Reasonable administrative costs incurred

Non-Refundable Fees

The following are generally non-refundable:

  • RPL application fees

  • Reassessment fees

  • Replacement or reissued certificates ($50 per document)

  • Fees for units where training and assessment have already been delivered

Refund Outcome

You will be notified of the outcome of your refund request within 28 business days.

6. Refund Payments and Records

Approved refunds will be paid to the original payer and processed within 28 business days.

All transactions are recorded and stored securely.

If you are not satisfied with a decision, you may lodge an appeal in accordance with our Complaints and Appeals Policy.

7. Consumer Protection and Feedback

STAR Education complies with the Australian Consumer Law and the Standards for RTOs 2025, ensuring fairness and transparency in all transactions.

If you are not satisfied with a decision related to fees or refunds, you may lodge a complaint or appeal as outlined in this handbook.
