TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck

Forklifts are widely used across industries including warehousing, logistics, construction, and manufacturing. Whether you're just starting out or have years of hands-on experience, it is a legal requirement to hold a valid High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) to operate a forklift truck.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely in accordance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. This nationally recognised unit is delivered by experienced trainers through a combination of theory and practical training, preparing you for the workplace and licensing assessment.

Day 1 & 2 8:30am to 4:30pm

Course Requirements

  • Please be aware you must be 18 years of age or over to complete this course

  • Reside in the state or territory where you are applying for the licence

  • You must hold and bring valid and current Government issued photo identification (ID).  Acceptable forms of ID include:

    • Current Passport

    • Current Australian Driver Licence, Learner Permit or Boat Operator’s Licence

    • Current Keypass

    • Proof of Age Card

  • If your photo ID does not show your current residential address, you must provide proof of residence (e.g. utility bill, phone bill, or official document)

  • Provide 100 points of identification or complete an online identity verification (where available)This is required after completing your training

  • Wear steel-capped safety boots during training and assessment

  • You must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English to be appropriate for entry to this course.  You must also have intermediate mathematical skills including the ability to calculate area, dimension, loads and mass.

What You'll Learn

This program is delivered face-to-face.  There are four (4) components to this program:

  • Pre-study reading – a learner guide will be provided upon booking

  • Theory training in the classroom

  • Practical training

  • Assessment of knowledge and skills.

Who is This Course For?

This course is designed for people who have had minimal or no forklift operating experience.

Course Outcome

On successful completion of this program, students will receive a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck. Students will also receive a Worksafe Notice of Assessment (NOA) which must be lodged electronically via a myworksafe account or in person at the post office along with the WorkSafe application fee within 60 days of issue.  Following this process, your High Risk Work Licence will be issued by WorkSafe Victoria.

Specific State & Territory Information

While STAR Education provides the nationally recognised High Risk Work Licence, each State/Territory has its own licensing authority and may require a separate application.
